Latik Cooking Instructions:
- In a bowl combine the fresh grated coconut and 1½ cups of water and let it soak for a minute. Prepare another bowl with a strainer on top. Get a handful of grated coconut and press both hands to extract the milk over the strainer or you can use a clean cloth to wrap the grated coconut and squeeze to extract the milk and so on. Strain the coconut milk in a sauce pan just to make sure that it is free from grated coconut.
- Bring to boil on a medium heat until the coconut milk and the coconut oil separates. Turn the heat on low to keep the latik from burning and keep on stirring until golden brown. Transfer in a plate and set aside to cool until needed.
